7 TO 10 YEARS OLD

FOCUS

  • Training basic speed, quickness, coordination, agility, balance, flexibility, strength and power
  • Teaching the basics of essential techniques like dribbling, ball control, trapping, heading, shooting, corner kicks, penalty kicks, goal kicks, free kicks and passing
  • Teaching “Pre-Tactical” basics such as “scoring with combination play”

 

PRINCIPLES

  • At this age level, athletic training should be emphasize the basics of team play in an age-appropriate way
  • With regard to the concept of “safe combination play” this means teaching basic techniques dribbling, passing and ball control
  • Simple practice game on two goals enable players to start picking up the most important techniques right away
